We're Charlie Wynn and Leah Holland — and this site is our family's corner of the internet.
This site is our private family hub: a place for the little tools, notes, and modules that make family life run a bit smoother. Nothing here is public beyond these pages — everything useful lives behind the family login, where only people we invite can get in.
What the family uses it for
Shared lists
Grocery runs, packing checklists, to-dos — lists the whole family can add to and check off, with live updates the moment anyone changes something.
Vacation planning
Plan a trip together: dates, day-by-day itineraries, links, and notes in one place, so the planning lives where the family already is.
Family dashboard
One home screen with the modules that matter to us — notes, reminders, lists, trips, and whatever we dream up next.
Under the hood
For the curious: the hub is a Next.js app on AWS Amplify Gen 2, with Cognito auth, DynamoDB storage, and CI/CD straight from a private GitHub repo. A few of the bits we're proud of:
Realtime everything
Shared lists update live over websockets — when someone checks off the milk, everyone sees it instantly. No refresh button in sight.
Push notifications
Web push keeps the family in the loop: list changes, announcements, and deploy notices arrive even when the tab is closed.
Self-monitoring
Structured logging to CloudWatch with a fatal-event queue and an admin log viewer — the site watches itself so we don't have to.
Private by design
No public sign-ups. Accounts are created by family admins only, every page is guard-checked, and auth runs on Cognito with role-based access.
